BABY DRIVER SUBARU
Subaru Imprezas always reminded me of chavvy boy racers and that was probably the factor that stopped me buying one when I was 18. However since then, they still have that cool image which has only progressed.
After this summer’s Baby Driver, interest in the car only got bigger; so it was only a short amount of time until the car from the movie would go up for sale. Albeit listing the car as a ‘collector’s item’ may be a step too far, the eBay listing received more than 70 bids and sold for a whopping $69,100 (£53,448). Just for comparison; the 2018 model is marked at £24,700.
The car was seen in-action at car chase scenes in the heist movie which probably has one of the best soundtracks to accompany the drifting, gear changes and flat out awesomeness. Rather than what seems as an over-the-top action in Fast and Furious; the driving in Baby Driver replicated realistic stunts.
The crimson red skidder has very few modifications. A rear drive transformation along with attaching a turbo charger simply so the stunts could be done easier, but any drifting enthusiastic would agree to making the right decision. The turbocharger comes from a 2004 STI which made the 2006 model reach over 320 horsepower.
After filming, the car clocked in over 158,000 miles with just a few paint scratches but was listed as working condition and only minor repairs needed.
It’s not exactly a one in a time car but they are stylish and possibly a future classic and since being featured in the movie; its reputation reached its way to more casuals. Hence the massive sale of the car to a lucky buyer and here I am writing about it, wondering when I can have a full meal next.
